Congrats to VTChEwbecca!

One of our last finishers in November. Big congrats to Chewie!!! She had been thinking of doing a 365 for awhile, but finally took the plunge when a friend of hers started. After getting her hands on a new SLR (a Sony Alpha 300) earlier that year, what a perfect way to learn more about her new camera.

She played around with all sorts of techniques; long exposures, cloning, selective color, sepia and B&W, macro photography and more.

On her final photo she included some interesting statistics too. Thought those would be fun to share here too...
6.6% (24) of her photos involved books/reading - her favorite hobby
14.5% (53) of her photos involved her felines
15.9% (58) of her photos were self portraits - funny, because she hates having my photo taken
17.3% (63) of her photos were in black and white

And while she will not be continuing on with her 365, she will be playing in MSH and perhaps start a 52 weeks project soon. This fall she got busy with life and was not able to spend as much time on her daily photo as she would have liked, a weekly photo would allow more time to focus on different ideas, themes and techniques.

Below we have featured her final photo, 3 of her favs, two admin pics and a link to the slideshow of her project.

Tech Challenge - Long Exposure

With November coming to a close, I wanted to feature some photos from November's Long Exposure Tech Challenge. This month's challenge brought out some beautiful long exposure shots that definitely make me want to try more of this technique in the future.

Congrats to Pennacook!

Sending a big congratulations to Todd. He finished his project on Wednesday! Yay!

Like many of us, Todd choose to do a 365 project for multiple reasons. One... to keep a daily log of sorts and two... to learn more about his camera that he had barely used.

During his project not only did he increase his knowledge of his camera, but has grown to love photography. He played around with lighting (including off camera lighting), TTV and macro photography.

And does he plan to continue with another 365?... well no.. BUT he may venture into setting up his own portrait studio and perhaps will continue with a 100 strangers project or a 52 weeks project. But not immediately... a little break is a good thing! He will still be hanging out in Flickrland though to play in MSH and macro mondays. Two groups he has become quite addicted to. Easy to do, as those groups are a ton of fun.

Below we have featured his final photo, 3 of his favs, two admin pics & a link to the slideshow for his entire project. And congrats again Todd!

Congrats to (al)!

A big congrats to Al! Woo hoo. He finished his project earlier this week. Yay.

In his own words, he started this project to document a year of his life, starting on his 33rd birthday. Over the course of the year, he unveiled a pressing desire to get in touch with things that meant a lot to his father... and DID them! He also was challenged to take new opportunities for training and encouragement by traveling to LA and he did it!!! As you look through his project in its entirety, you will see what it is that he values in life - his family, his friends and the basic everyday stories of the people he has met and shared some life with...

And one thing that needs to be mentioned about Al's project, is that he took all his photos using just one lens! His prime 50mm. Awesome.

Below we have featured his final photo, 3 of his favs, two admin pics and a link to a slideshow of his entire project. Congrats again Al!

Congrats to SophieG*

A huge congrats to Sophie! Woo hoo. So what to say and where to start? I would guess that there aren't too many folks in the group who haven't stumbled upon Sophie's 365 project and been inspired.

While she claims she still has heaps to learn in some areas... she certainly mastered many techniques and developed a unique style that she could call her own. And I have to say, it wasn't too hard to spot her work in the crowd.

Her work was sometimes full of color and other times was beautifully muted. If you think of Sophie, more than likely all the following would come to mind... minimalist, simple composition, negative space, color, soft, dreamy, white on white and master of texture. She made the best use of a washing machine that I have ever seen. And I have to admit I am a tad jealous of her lovely window. The light was just perfect.

Her flower shots were always amazing.. and many times I left her stream hungry for a tasty treat. But she also traveled to Paris & India during her 365 and we also got a quick peak into her home town too. Danbo visited her stream on a couple occasions. And I think Sophie is also the only one I have seen who made some use of her scanner for her shots of the day!

Through out the year, we got some sneak peaks.. little bits of Sophie. Perhaps some day she will pop in with a full on selfie, but not for now. And appearances aren't everything anyhow.. you just need to read Sophie's descriptions and tags to know what a witty and lovely lady she is. ;) She is taking a wee break.. but hopefully she won't stay away for too long. Congrats again!

Below we have featured her final photo, 3 of her favs, a pic from Meshl and one from me. Have to say it was quite hard choosing as I think I have half her stream in my favs. And what.... no flowers or fruit of spices shown here? You will just have to check out the slideshow if you haven't already seen those!

Congrats to Littleredcera!!!

Sending some big congratulations to Sarah! She finished her 365 project yesterday. Woo hoo. She started on her birthday last year with the hopes (like most of us) of learning more about her camera and photography. And wow... did she ever :)

As a teacher in Vermont, we got some sneak peaks into her classroom. She also introduced us to her family, her pets and she shared some very personal stories with us. We also got to see a very special place... her vacation spot since she was a youngster. And it looks super relaxing there.

Working with an advanced point and shoot she took all kinds of photos from portraits, to landscapes, macros, selfies and long exposures. She played around with all sort of processing techniques too... including some that I have yet to try ... cloning, fairy dust and levitation. Super fun! And she did them so well.

And will she move on to year two? Well maybe, after she has saved up enough for an SLR. In the mean time though, she will pop in from time to time.

Below we have featured her final shot (in her classroom), 3 of her favs and an admin pic (had to share one of her cloning shots!). You can also browse through her entire project.. just click the link below.

ENJOY! And Congrats again Sarah!
