Congrats to TheAmazingShrinkingMan!!!

Congratulations to Alan! He finished his project on the 18th of December. Yay!!! And not only did he finish this year.. it was his year two of a 365. His first year was a 365 selfie project. So ... way to go Alan! Since he wrote a really great email to me reflecting back on this past year, I thought I would just share it with you all here. :)

So in Alan's words
"I thought this year's project would be much easier than the 365 Days project I did last year, but I struggled much more this year. Last year, I always had a subject. This year, trying to find something interesting to shoot has been a real challenge, especially on the busy days at work. The two projects have also really driven home how shockingly boring my life is. Out of 700+ photos, about 600 of them are at home, at work or on the road in between. On the other hand, I've become much better at paying attention to my environment. I've always got my eyes open for an interesting subject and a creative way of shooting it.

Last year's project taught me how to effectively use a DSLR and this year I moved up to a much more capable camera -- a Nikon D90. I set up a basement studio this year, but I only took a handful of photos there. I'm still learning how use my speedlights in a studio setting.

Personally, it's been a big year. My younger son got into med school and moved away from home. My older son and I took an epic trip to southern Utah to photograph the canyons. I'm so happy that I have the record that this project provides. Every time I look through my photostream, the photos take me right back to the day I took them. That said, this will be my last daily project for at least a while. I hope to remain active on Flickr and continue carrying my camera around with me, but without the pressure of finding something every day. One project I do want to pursue in the coming year is scanning in a lot of my old film work and posting some of that.
"

Below we have featured his final photo, 3 of his favs, an admin pic and a slideshow of his entire project. Congrats again!

With the recent snow storms, I've noticed a lot of great winter photos. Be sure to get out there and capture that awesome snow before it's all gone! :)

Congrats to ktrmeadow!!!

Congratulations to Kathy! She finished her 365 earlier this week. Like many of us, this project encouraged her to take her camera everywhere! She posted a quote on her profile.. and I have to say it is so true ...

"To be a photographer, one must photograph. No amount of book learning, no checklist of seminars attended, can substitute for the simple act of making pictures. Experience is the best teacher of all. And for that, there are no guarantees that one will become an artist. Only the journey matters"... Harry Callahan

That said, she did spend time to studying her camera, reading the manuals and learning from various photography forums. And she completed 12 months of MSH! Another fabulous accomplishment. And also some very exciting news.. she launched her portrait business and will also be taking courses at the New York Institute of Photography. Yay!

Through out her project, we were got a sneak peak into her daily life.. we got to meet her cats, saw locations for swim meets, she shared her father's office, macros of flowers, food and wine, selfies and more. Great variety of subjects in her stream.

Will she continue and do another 365? ... The answer is no, but as she mentioned herself, this project was certainly a stepping stone to larger photographic adventures.

Below we have featured her final photo, 3 of her favs, two admin pics and a link to the slideshow of her entire project. Have a looksie. Lots of amazing images in there!

Kids

There are many gorgeous photos of children in the 365 pool. I can't help but think that these kids will treasure these pictures when they are adults. Here's some recent ones that I think are really wonderful:

Congrats to Crashmaster007!!!

Congrats to Mike! He finished his 365 on friday. Yay!!!

He started his 365 his senior year of college, having just signed a job offer letter to start the next July. During the course of his 365 he graduated college, visited another country, moved to Arlington VA, and started his first real job. It was an exciting and at times scary part of his life and keeping the 365 going was hard at times, but he is happy with what he has accomplished.

Over the course of his project, he experimented with hdr, long exposures, macros.. and his project featured landscapes, sports photography, his pets, family portraits, macros, college life, self portraits, various beer shots(cheers!) and much much more.

Below we have featured his final photo, 3 of his favorites, two admin pics and a slideshow of his entire 365. Congrats again!!
